Bike parts, Austin TX

A parts desk that reads your bike before it names a price.

Xervilo is an inquiry-only bicycle components catalogue, trading at xervilo.com and run from 68 Cedar Court, Office 12, Austin, Texas 28613, United States. We source replacement parts, consumables and compatible components for road, city and kids' bikes. We don't sell bicycles, and there is no checkout on this site.

How the desk works

Counter, not cart.

You send the bike. Speed count, wheel size, brake type, whatever is worn. We read it the way a mechanic reads a bike that's been wheeled up to a shop counter: what's on it now, what will go on it without a fight, and what the person actually needs, which is not always what they asked for.

Then we write back. Every reply is a short ledger: each part on its own line, the compatibility check that was run beside it, an indicative price in dollars, and a hold period. Seven days. The number in our reply is the one we hold for seven days, and after that we re-check stock and price before confirming.

Why no cart? Because a cart lets you buy an 11-speed chain for a 10-speed cassette at two in the morning, and we'd rather lose the sale than ship that. The catalogue on this site shows what we carry and roughly what it costs. The reply is where the fit gets confirmed.

What we actually do

Seven part groups, three kinds of bike, one way of quoting

Everything below can be checked against the catalogue pages. If a part isn't in one of these groups, we probably don't stock it, and we'll say so instead of guessing.

01

Chains from 8 to 12 speed, cassettes and freewheels sorted by freehub standard, rear derailleurs and hangers, bottom brackets and bearings. Chains from an indicative $24 with a quick link.

02

700c road and city wheels, 16, 20 and 24 in kids' wheels, matched by ISO size, axle and brake type. Wheelsets from an indicative $140 a pair.

03

700x25c to 700x40c and kids' sizes, Presta 48, 60 and 80 mm or Schrader tubes. Tyres from $22, tubes from $7, both indicative.

04

Resin and sintered disc pads, 140 to 180 mm rotors, rim pads, dual-pivot calipers, levers and bleed kits. Pad sets from $18 indicative; bleed kits quoted after the fluid is named.

05

Bar tape, grips and stems by clamp diameter. Cables, housing, lube and grease. Lights, bells, fenders and racks after an eyelet and clearance check.

We work by bike type too: road bikes, city and commuter bikes including internal hub parts, and kids' bikes from 12 to 24 in.

From inquiry to parcel

Four steps, and the second one is where most mistakes get caught

  1. You send the bike's details. Through the inquiry form, email or phone. The more of the five compatibility checks you include, the faster it goes.
  2. We check fit. Speed count, freehub, brake mount, axle, ISO size, valve. If one is missing and it matters for the part, we ask for it before quoting anything.
  3. We reply with the ledger. Part, check run, indicative price, seven-day hold. Target is one business day, Monday to Friday.
  4. You confirm, we pack. Small parts bagged and tagged with the part and the bike it's for. Chains go out only after a length check.
What we won't do

Three refusals, and the failure behind each

  • Suggest a part without the speed count and wheel size. An 11-speed chain on a 10-speed cassette runs for about a week, then skips under load. A 20 in tyre picked by the number on the box lands on an ISO 451 rim that needed 406. Both are cheap parts that cost a wasted week.
  • Quote a hydraulic brake without the fluid named. Mineral oil in a DOT system ruins the seals in an afternoon, and the reverse is no better. The fluid is printed on the lever or caliper. Read it, send it, then we quote.
  • Ship a chain without a length check. A chain one pair of links short can tear a derailleur hanger off on the big-big shift. Our chain length calculator shows the sum we run.

Who this isn't for: anyone who needs a part in their hands this afternoon, or wants to click buy and be done. A local shop counter will serve you better that day. We're for the person who wants the right part the first time and can wait a business day for the reply.
